Eligibility

You must reside in the United Kingdom from the start till the end of the hackathon. You must also be a student at a registered educational institute in the United Kingdom . You must also be !8 years or older on Day 1 of the Hackathon. 

Project and Submission Requirements

At This hackaton, we will be looking at 3 subject tracks.

These are:

  • The Astrogator's AI - Build predictive models and intelligent systems using deep space and launch data. **(AI/ML Focus)**
  • The Celestial Cartographer - Create stunning and interactive data visualizations to map, track, and interpret cosmic events. **(Visualization Focus)**
  • Alien Artifacts Division - Focus on novelty and user experience, combining APIs in surprising ways for a creative new application. **(Creative Tech Focus)**

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

Judging will take place by a select panal. This will take place on the final day of the hackathon. Following the judging, an awards ceremoney will take place. 

There will be 5 prizes:

  1. Stella Command Award - This will be awarded to the winning team of the hackathon.
  2. The Astrogator's AI Team Award - This will be awarded to a winning Astrogator's AI Team
  3. The Celestial Cartographer Team Award - This will be awarded to a winning Celestial Cartographer Team
  4. Alien Artifacts Division Team Award - This will be awarded to a winning Alien Artifacts Division Team
  5. The Commander Award - This is awarded to the student who gains the rank of commander in the hackathon.

Student Ranks

At the Galactic Archives Hackathon, there are student ranks that you could earn. In order of lowest to highest these ranks are:

  • Cadet (Automatically assigned to you when Joining the Hackathon)
  • Ensign
  • Lieutenant
  • Lt. Commander
  • Commander

You will can earn these ranks by showing potential in teamworking, creativity on problem solving and working hard. Recommendations for these roles will come from technichal mentors who will support the teams throughout the hackathon.

Yes this is a virtual hackathon but it does not operate like most other hackathons. 

The Galactic Archives Hackathon requires partisipants to attend a full day (virtual meeting) on the 23rd February 2026 to 27th February 2026 10am till 5pm. Also try to have all days in between these 2 dates free as well as this is when the tasks will be released to you and also when you will work with your teams and start coding.
